The Veterans Court program is Hays County’s answer to veteran treatment in lieu of incarceration. Unfortunately information on the court itself, as well as its personnel, was scarce. This meant that veterans who were in a bad situation were essentially taking a shot in the dark on their own rehabilitation. I was honored to have an opportunity to give back to a marginalized community I hold dear.

The Veterans Court staff were ecstatic when they saw the videos I had made, and are currently working on using them in their own information campaign.
One of the main tools I’ve used in my work comes from a company called Animography, who created entire animated typefaces for use in motion graphics and editing. This in particular is a font called Vesterbro, which gives a sense of formality to a video that is otherwise largely informal in it’s appearance.
For this video the Judge and I decided on a more informal setting for the introduction to the program. Given that these veterans will be meeting the judge almost entirely in a courtroom, this allows the viewer to see the Judge not only as a figure of authority, but as a human being trying to offer help and guidance.
