One of my hobbies whenever I’m in San Marcos is to try and take unique photos in and around Texas State University. While there are some very intentionally aesthetically pleasing parts of campus, I like to take the time to try and take more unique photos of every day areas in an attempt to explore them from different angles.

Given that this is a project solely for my own creativity the benefits are purely my own. That said I’m constantly learning from these shots and in many ways try to use these angles in my own video work.
Part of the challenge of these photos is that I’m trying to bring a new feeling to something people interact and pass by every single day. I do this by trying to use less intuitive angles and focal lengths to try and bring common places to life. Another frequent challenge is that certain areas are constantly being photographed, so I’m trying to essentially bring a fresh perspective to something that’s had thousands of perspectives explored across it.
Something that draws me to the shots I take is specifically the dynamic relationship between the colors present in the subject as well as the mood conveyed by the way that light bounces off of it. The entire campus is changing all the time due to the changing natural light settings, and it is always a challenge to catch the right place at the right time.
